I am a Senior Researcher at Siemens in Munich (Germany). Previously, I worked at ESRI, the 52°North initiative, and the Institute for Geoinformatics at the University of Münster. I received my PhD from the University of Twente (Netherlands).

My research interests currently lay in the area of the internet of things, edge computing, and indoor localization. My research has contributed to over 90 publications, multiple patent filings, and laid the foundation for a startup based on the SenseBox design. I have acted as the Scientific and Technical Coordinator of the projects IntellIoT as well as BIG IoT, and contributed to numerous other international innovation and research projects (e.g., H2020, Horizon Europe).

I have been involved in standards development at the W3C Web of Things group and at OGC's Sensor Web Enablement (SWE) initiative where I acted chair of the Sensor Observation Service (SOS) working group that developed the SOS 2.0 standard.
